Introduction
Create your own long multiplication worksheet using multiplication problems from your maths textbook or any other source. Enter your multiplicands and multipliers in the text area, and Sublime Maths Worksheets will arrange them using the traditional long multiplication method.
This interactive worksheet lets you practise the complete multiplication process using your own problems. Work through the intermediate partial products and add them vertically to obtain the final product.
About the Cursor Jump to the Left-most Box Option
In this worksheet, numbers are normally entered from right to left. When it is checked, the cursor intentionally jumps from a middle box to the left-most box in some problems. From there, typing continues from left to right. This behavior matches the way these calculations are usually worked out using pen and paper.
How to Create Your Worksheet
Enter two numbers separated by a comma on each line. The first number is the multiplicand, and the second number is the multiplier. Each line represents one multiplication problem.
You can enter numbers containing up to 5 digits and create a worksheet with up to 16 problems. Once you have entered your numbers, create your worksheet to see the problems arranged in the traditional long multiplication format.
Practise Long Multiplication Step by Step
Long multiplication, also known as column multiplication, is a method of multiplying multi-digit numbers by working through the multiplier one digit at a time, starting from the rightmost digit.
Enter each partial product in its corresponding answer box. After completing the intermediate steps, add the partial products vertically to calculate the final product.
Practise the traditional right-to-left multiplication process and strengthen your understanding of place value, partial products, and multi-digit multiplication.
