The detailed description of the worksheet
Introduction
Create your own vertical addition worksheet using sums from your maths textbook or any other source. Enter your numbers in the text area, and Sublime Maths Worksheets will arrange them into vertical addition problems using the column method.
Designed for students practising addition in Grades 3, 4 and 5, this worksheet lets you work with your own set of problems instead of relying on automatically generated sums.
About the Cursor Jump to the Left-most Box Option
In this worksheet, numbers are normally entered from right to left. When it is checked, the cursor intentionally jumps from a middle box to the left-most box in some problems. From there, typing continues from left to right. This behavior matches the way these calculations are usually worked out using pen and paper.
How to Create Your Worksheet
Enter your addition sums in the text area, with each problem on a separate line. Separate the numbers in each problem with commas.
You can enter up to 5 numbers per problem, with each number containing up to 5 digits. Create a worksheet with up to 16 problems using sums of your choice. Any excess numbers or digits will be ignored.
Once you have entered your sums, create your worksheet to see the numbers arranged vertically, ready for you to solve.
Practise Vertical Addition Using the Column Method
Vertical addition, also known as the column method or stacking method, involves writing numbers one below another and aligning their place values before adding them.
Use your own textbook sums to practise adding multi-digit numbers, strengthen your understanding of place value, and improve your accuracy in column addition.
An Interactive, Self-Correcting Worksheet
Solve each addition problem by entering your answer directly into the answer box. Receive instant feedback as you work, identify mistakes, and correct them immediately.
Everything runs online in your browser. There is no need to print or download worksheets.
Create and Practise with Your Own Sums
Whether you want to practise homework problems, revise sums from a textbook, or work through a specific set of addition exercises, this worksheet gives you a flexible way to practise vertical addition at your own pace.
