Introduction

Create your own Roman and Arabic numeral conversion worksheet using numbers from your maths textbook or any other source. Enter Roman numerals and Arabic numbers in the text area, separated by spaces or line breaks, and Sublime Maths Worksheets will automatically organise them into conversion problems.

This interactive worksheet lets you practise converting Roman numerals to Arabic numbers and Arabic numbers to Roman numerals using your own choice of numbers.

How to Create Your Worksheet

Enter Roman numerals and Arabic numbers in the text area, separating them with spaces or line breaks. You can enter numbers in either format in any order and on any line.

The worksheet automatically groups the numbers by format. Roman numerals appear first as problems to convert into Arabic numbers, followed by Arabic numbers to convert into Roman numerals.

You can enter up to 24 Roman numerals and 24 Arabic numbers, creating up to 48 conversion problems in total. Once you have entered your numbers, create your worksheet to begin practising.

Only valid numbers are used to create conversion problems. Arabic numbers outside the range 0-3999 and invalid Roman numerals are ignored. For example, 4125 and XXXXXXDDCVVV will not appear as problems in your worksheet.

Practise Converting Roman Numerals and Arabic Numbers

Roman numerals use the letters I, V, X, L, C, D and M to represent numerical values. Arabic numbers use the familiar decimal digits 0 to 9.

  • I
    1
  • V
    5
  • X
    10
  • L
    50
  • C
    100
  • D
    500
  • M
    1000

Practising conversions in both directions helps you recognise Roman numeral symbols, understand how they represent numerical values, and become more confident reading and writing numbers in both formats.

An Interactive, Self-Correcting Worksheet

Convert each number by entering your answer directly into the corresponding input box. Receive instant feedback as you work, identify mistakes, and correct them immediately.

Everything runs online in your browser. There is no need to print or download worksheets.
